Frequently asked

What is student accident insurance?
Student accident insurance pays medical expenses when a student, volunteer, or other covered participant is injured during a school-sponsored activity — sports, recess, field trips, before/after care, summer programs, or school events. It can pay as primary coverage or on an excess basis after the family’s health plan, helping bridge deductibles, out-of-network costs, and uncovered charges.
Does my school need it if we already have liability insurance?
Yes. General liability covers the school’s legal exposure when the school is at fault. Student accident insurance is a separate, no-fault benefit that pays medical bills regardless of fault. Many injury claims are not the school’s legal liability — but families still have real medical bills. Student accident coverage protects families and demonstrates the school’s care for its community.
Who does it cover?
Enrolled students during school-sponsored activities. Depending on the plan and your school’s elected coverages, it can also extend to volunteers, participants in before/after care or summer camp, daycare attendees, and others involved in school-sponsored events. This calculator lets you price each of those groups separately.
How is it different from health insurance?
Health insurance is personal coverage for the individual. Student accident insurance is sponsored by the school and activates specifically for injuries tied to school activities. It typically pays on an excess basis after family health insurance, helping cover deductibles and out-of-pocket costs — though Plan 1 has no deductible, and the policy pays as primary when no other coverage exists.
Can we offer it to families as an optional benefit?
Some schools elect blanket coverage for all enrolled students, some make it optional, and some offer voluntary plans families can purchase directly. We can walk through structures that fit your school’s budget and community — that’s exactly the kind of conversation a formal quote starts.
