Common COI questions

What is a Certificate of Insurance (COI)? +

A Certificate of Insurance is a document that proves your ministry has active insurance coverage. It lists your policy types, limits, and effective dates. Third parties — like landlords, lenders, or event venues — often require one before they'll work with you.

When do I need a COI? +

You may need a COI when renting a facility, borrowing a vehicle, applying for a loan, hosting a community event, or entering into a contract with a vendor. If someone asks for "proof of insurance," they're asking for a COI.

How quickly can I get a COI from MinistrySure? +

Most certificate requests are completed within one business day. If you need it sooner, let us know when you call or email — we'll do our best to accommodate rush requests.
